After the discussion we had I felt like I learned a variety of new things. The experience was a good one–TappedIn was a great meeting place. I felt like all of the questions asked were good ones, and our guest proved to be very helpful. She provided an inside look into what we all will be doing here in a few short years. I enjoyed sitting at home, rather than driving to class to sit in those dreadfully small metal desks.

The content of the discussion obviously focused on literacy;however, since we were asked to develop our questions as they related to TBI and CVAs that through some interesting questions into the mix.I feel like the most important thing I learned from our discussion is that “it depends…” meaning that in every situation there are a million different answers and possible solutions and that each patient is very, very different. I think this is vital to remember since it also implies that there is no one answer, there are answers!

The process of the discusssion was very logical and easy to keep up with. First, we all introduced ourselves, then our guest introduced herself and then we each began asking a question. Some ground rules, like only one follow-up question were included to keep the discussion rolling along. Only about 5 people got to ask their question because their were so many follow-questions and discussion after each one. I feel like it was a success and the process was easy to follow.

Like I mentioned earlier, I learned a lot from this experience. When it comes to process, I learned how to join the TappedIn community, how to emote, how to join someone in a different chat room, how to  create an office, and how to view user information. With content in mind, I learned that everyone is different and there are very few concepts or generalities between patients with similar conditions. I feel like TappedIn could be of use to me in the future to meet with fellow classmates to collaborate on a project or to use to inform the community.
